Flooding on the Snoqualmie River can be estimated by measuring the number of cubic feet of water flowing by a fixed point every second (CFS). Referencing the river gauge near Snoqualmie, the following flow rates result in the following flooding thresholds.

Flood Stage Flow Rate (CFS)
Bankfull Stage 10,000 CFS
Flood Stage 20,000 CFS
Major Flood 41,000 CFS

Once the flooding stage has been reached, the severity of the flood is expressed in Phases. The range of phases is from 1-4, with a Phase 4 flood being the worst. The river flows that define the four Phases of a flood and the degree of flooding to be expected is shown in the table below.

Phase 2 Moderate lowland flooding. Roads overtopped; Neal Rd., Fall Station Rd., Snoqualmie/ Meadowbrook Rd., Millpond Rd., Vincent Flat Rd., Adair Rd., West River Rd. Prepare for flood. Stay informed through the TV, radio, local alerts: www.rpin.org . 12,000 CFS and continuing to rise.
Phase 3 Major flooding. Entire Snoqualmie Valley experiencing varying depths of flooding. Roads overtopped; Fall City-Carnation Rd., Tolt Hill Rd., Novelty Hill Rd., Dutchman Rd., Snoqualmie-Fall City Rd. Evacuate if necessary. If not, ensure you are ready to withstand the full extent of the flood with ample supplies. 20,000 CFS and rising.
Phase 4 Extreme flooding. Roads overtopped; Woodinville-Duvall Rd. Warnings are issued through the Flood Warning Centers to Fire & Police Agencies. Evacuate if necessary. If not, ensure you are ready to withstand the full extent of the flood with ample supplies. 38,000 CFS and continuing to rise.
