SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

December 10, 2007

The Fire Commissioners met at the Fire District Office on December 10, 2007 at 0915 hrs to discuss the next Fire District newsletter.

In attendance:               Chairman Chris Dahline

                                    Commissioner Ron Pedee

                                    Commissioner Steve Parsons

                                    Secretary Trina Parsons

The next letter will come out sometime in March. We will check to see when the future CERT training and CPR classes are scheduled and if need be, we will work around that.

There were discussions regarding various topics that would be of interest for the newsletter. After discussions were complete, it was decided it would be another 8-page newsletter and would consist of the following:

Page 1- Chief’s message- Trained responders among us. Start with the incident with Dave Latourette at the Pour House where he saved a citizen by performing CPR and then move into the opportunities with CERT, CPR, Ham Radio, etc. Point out upcoming training and emphasis the Fire Department has never been more important than it is today.

Page 2- Career/Volunteer. Would like to feature additional firefighters serving in the D38 area. We will get some names from Deputy Chief Griffin or staff.

Page 3- Half-page article on the success of the Medic 1 issue written by Commissioner Pedee

Half-page article about the projected staff increases when there are four extra firefighters on duty by Deputy Chief Griffin (or staff)

Page 4, 5, 6 will consist of the following articles in whatever order is decided later

-         Yearly statistics and notable calls (Chairman Dahline)

-         Earthquake Preparedness/Awareness (Staff)

-         Station Update (Commissioner Pedee)

Page 7- Commissioners Corner will reflect the Chief’s Report (Commissioner Pedee)

Page 8- Address Box will contain any upcoming CPR/CERT opportunities and a line about how to volunteer.

There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 1045 hrs.
