The Office provides works to ensure life safety through education, inspection, and enforcement of the legally adopted fire codes, local ordinances, and nationally recognized standards.

The EF&R Fire Marshal’s Office has experienced significant transformations through its recent service contract with Mercer Island Fire. The team has seamlessly integrated the Mercer Island Fire Marshal's Office into the Eastside Fire Marshal's Office, showcasing adaptability and dedication to regionalization for improved service delivery. This opportunity has facilitated the establishment of the South and North Divisions, enhancing efficiencies across the EF&R service area. The South Division is led by Fire Marshal Hicks, and supported by an Assistant Fire Marshal, and Inspector. Meanwhile, the North Division is led by a Fire Marshal Lawrence, and is supported by two Assistant Fire Marshals.
