Reserve Firefighter Position:
The Reserve Firefighter program is new to EF&R and offers the opportunity for those interested in a fire service career to gain valuable training and experience. Selected candidates shall receive Firefighter 1 and EMT certification.
Reserve Firefighters are assigned to a career crew, work up to three (3) ten-hour shifts and one (1) 24-hour weekend shift per month. Reserve Firefighters may be affiliated with another fire department so long as they meet training and shift requirements. Reserve Firefighters do not need to live within EF&R boundaries.

- IFSAC Firefighter 1 or equivalent
- Washington State EMT or National Registry EMT
- Lateral candidates shall be subject to skills evaluation
Qualified applicants shall be invited to participate in a written exam, hosted by Eastside Fire & Rescue; written exam date to be announced by the end of October. Note: Candidates scoring 80% or above on the PST written exam within the last 12-months, will have the testing requirement waived. Candidates requesting waiver must provide proof of 80% or above test score along with their application.
Lateral candidates will need to pass a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) by October 13, 2017 to move forward in the process.
Entry level candidates will need to complete the CPAT by December 7, 2017. The test is offered by Public Safety Testing: www.publicsafetytesting.com.

- Written Exam: Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 0900
- Proof of CPAT completion: October 13, 2017 (Lateral)
- Proof of CPAT completion: December 7, 2017 (Entry)
- Interviews: January 8 - 11, 2018
Selected entry level candidates will be required to complete a Weekend Recruit Academy in North Bend. The academy is held over the course of 12 weekends (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday). Lodging and food will be provided. Candidates will attend either a Winter or Summer 2018 Academy.
